As a soldier in Kirkenes in 2005, Kim Richard Strysse was trained to protect and defend Norway. Here he heard a strange story about how enemy tanks had driven at full speed towards the Norwegian border and then suddenly stopped and retreated. Later, confirmation came from a former Russian soldier who was in one of the tanks.

Of all things, the incident occurred on Christmas Eve, in the 1990s. “While the border guards were sitting and enjoying ribs and sauerkraut, they suddenly felt the ground vibrate and they heard a distant noise coming closer. To their great surprise, there was quite a large troop of tanks and other combat vehicles that thundered across the Russian border, into the middle section (no man’s land). Then they suddenly stopped at the Norwegian border,” Strysse says and continues. “They stood there for a while at high revs – until they finally backed up and disappeared into the night. As a soldier in the Norwegian army, I fortunately did not need the lessons I had learned.”
Failed invasion
A few years after Kim Richard Strysse finished his service in the army, he became a Christian. He was saved. His walk with Jesus began in earnest and his life took a completely different direction. “One day I heard about a house meeting in Hedmark in the Oppland district where a very interesting Russian had been present. He had witnessed a very special event in Northern Norway in the 1990s. The man was the driver of one of the tanks that was to test ‘a possible invasion of Norway’. But as they thundered at high speed across the Russian border on their way into Norway, large angels suddenly appeared, holding outstretched hands towards the invasion troops. It was like a kind of confrontation, and the tanks stopped abruptly in contact with the angels. And after a while the military troops retreated. This was exactly the same as I was told in the military,” says Strysse, who is amazed by the incident that he has from two different sources. Strysse highlights two things he learned from the story. "It is that God is in control, and that prayer for our country and its borders is important. I therefore encourage my brothers and sisters in faith to pray like never before," he says.
